HALLOWEEN 2: MONSTER MASH WEEKEND SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

October 27-30

Friday  

5:30 – 7                                      Bingo,  Beef  Stew,  &  Fine  Beverages               Jefferson Center

Come meet your friends and neighbors while enjoying a classic beef stew over rice with fine drinks.  Around 6:15 we will transition to a fast-paced Bingo that has a 100% payout with a jackpot of about $200 from the purchase of our five-game card pack for $5 (cash only).  Doors open at 5:30.

7:00 – 9                                                       Smores  &  Games                               Washington Complex

Join us at the Washington Complex (looks like a barn building) for a cozy evening with something for everyone.  Discover games, smores and music!  Adults will gather in the Taylor Billiard Room from 5 – 8:30 to enjoy open play on our “best in central Virginia” billiard tables and our indoor, super fast, 22 foot shuffleboard.

7:00 – 8:00                                         Spooky  Haunted  House                                              The Quad

From 7 to 8 be the first in line to experience our haunted house.  In the dark of night, mature kids and adults can thrill to the excitement of unique and well designed, black light, and foggy corridors filled with classic Halloween images that include goblins, graveyards, clowns, scares and screams. Indeed, this haunted adventure is a rather unforgettable, super fun, Fall occasion designed for our mature kids and older guests. (Guests are limited to entering two times a night)

Saturday  

10 – 11                                  Crafts:  Masks,  &  Stuffy Animals              Polk Craft Room

Get ready for a spooktacular time at our Polk Arts and Crafts room in the Washington Complex Building, adjacent to the Fillmore pizza and ice cream parlor. Create your own Halloween mask, or purchase your extra cute stuffy at the Reception Center for $10.  Then enjoy stuffing the toy animal to create a fond memento to take home.  Please buy the stuffy animal at the office before this is a popular craft event. Come have some fun with several additional crafts available as supervised by our staff.

11 – 6                                                              Fun  Festival                               Washington Complex Area

Join us at The Washington Complex area for a day of fun games and activities!  Games include  pumpkin bowling, witch hat toss, pumpkin tick, foosball, air hockey, ping pong, pool and more.  WOW! A Halloween raffle is free to play for a prize, and Halloween Bingo will start at 2:30 PM.  Prize bags will be awarded freely for extra effort and for just having a fun afternoon.  Inside, hangout while watching the classic Wizard of Oz or challenge your friends to a board game showdown inside the Fillmore Room that also offers pizza, chicken wings, ice cream, and parlor board games.   As a special treat, buy a Smores kit ($2) and gather around our outdoor grills to enjoy everybody’s favorite: Smores, just like the “good ol’ days.”

11:30 – 12:30                                           Pumpkin  Carving                                 Jefferson Center Patio

Join us at the Quad to pick up the perfect pumpkin to carve ($5).  Our staff will supply the carving tools necessary to craft your “pumpkin masterpiece.”  Be creative; be bold; and display your work on the Quad along the pool fence in our competition for the best carvings (see below).

1 – 4                                            Rock & Roll Music with Deja Vu                Jefferson Center Patio

Bring a chair or blanket to the Quad to enjoy classic rock songs of our favorite band:  Déjà Vu.  We will serve light refreshments from 2 to 2:30, including popcorn, lemonade, tea and water.

1 – 2                                                     Photo  Scavenger  Hunt                               Madison Office/Store

We will provide a unique list of “treasures” to photograph in our Photo Scavenger Hunt. You will ramble around the entire Resort to locate specific items, capturing them with a photo, all within a definite time period. The list will include hidden clues and riddles.  Kids under 14 who make a good faith effort to find and photo their list of treasures will enjoy a free ice cream cone from our Fillmore Ice Cream Parlor.

2:30 – 3:15                                        Foul Shooting Contest                                              Reception Center

This will be a straight forward “who makes the most out of 15 foul shots” competition that will be broken into two flights: kids under 16 and adults.  The winner of the adult flight scores a $25 Amazon gift card while the winner of the kids’ flight wins a free t-shirt or ice cream at our Fillmore Ice Cream Parlor.  Sign up to play at Office.

3:30 – 4                                                      Pumpkin  Race                                                Volleyball Court

We are hoping for a great crowd to cheer their favorite adult and kid contestants participating in the first annual Downhill Pumpkin Race at Madison Vines.  Held on the lawn adjacent to the volleyball and basketball courts, the “racing participants” will grab their broomstick and select their pumpkin, then line up at the top of the hill to race downhill, “sweeping” their pumpkin downhill to the finish line at the entrance road.  The fastest adult and fastest kid pumpkin racers who get their pumpkins over the finish line first wins a  $50 gift certificate; the runner up pumpkin racer / kicker /sweeper in each age group is awarded a $25 gift certificate.  Are YOU ready to RACE?

4                                                    Carving  &  Site  Decoration  Awards                                   The Quad

Our RV site / cottage site decorating contest AND our pumpkin carving competition (mentioned above) will be judged with prizes awarded at around 4pm at the pool fence area in the Quad. There will be two winners for the pumpkin carving contest and two winners for the best RV site / cottage decorations.  The 1st place winners for carving and for site decoration will receive a $50 gift card!  The second-place winners get $25 dollar gift card.

4:15 – 5:45                                                Trick  or  Treating                            All RV and Cottage Sites

Throughout the Resort, our guests will be waiting outside at their sites to participate in the classic tradition of “trick or treat.”  The kids will go site to site to greet guests waiting outside their sites to pass out candy to those trick or treaters who have costumes.  If you’re handing out treats, be sure to be outside!  This promises to be a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone!

6:00 -7:30                                      Smoked BBQ Chicken  Dinner                                Jefferson Center

For dinner, we are featuring our very popular smoked, BBQ chicken with choice of light or dark meat.  We start with a homemade “hail to the end of summer” gazpacho soup and fine beverages, then progress to the slowly cooked, BBQ chicken that will be complimented with a homemade made mac and cheese, and green beans, followed by a dessert of apple pie and / or chocolate cake.  Holy smokes…this will be memorable.  There is limited seating for this Halloween special, and we urge you to please reserve your seats at the office or call 540 – 948 – 4186.  Only $10 per person.

6:40 – 7                                                Halloween  Costume Contest                   Jefferson Center Patio

While at dinner, we will produce a charming Halloween costume for young and old.  Judging begins at 6:40 pm sharp and will rely on applause to determine the winners based on the scariest costume, the funniest costume, and the most unique overall attire.   Each of the three categories wins a $50 dollar gift certificate. Unleash your creativity in designing a costume, and let the applause decide your fate!

9 – 10                                              Pancake  Breakfast  Galore                               Jefferson Center

Start your day with a hot breakfast featuring “hot off the griddle” pancakes with a hashbrown casserole, warm breakfast pizza, fresh fruit, French crepes, muffins, juice and fine coffee.  Please sign up in the office to make sure we have a seat for you, or simply pay at the door on a first come, first served basis.
